Nepal---> Lang Tang

Hi everybody! Since we did two treks we decided to do two posts! Our second trek was six days in a very beautiful area called Lang Tang. Lang Tang is a national park which is home to humans, red pandas, snow leopards and many other amazing creatures. It was so beautiful and we are so glad we decided to do one more trek before we left Nepal!

Day 1: Sypru Besi -Lama Hotel
Our first day involved several bridges and more stairs!

Day 2 :Lama Hotel- Lang Tang

The second day the terrain really flattened out and turned into a pretty mild slope up which gave us more energy to admire the view. And boy was there a view!

Day 3:  Lang Tang - Kyanjin Gompa
The Third day was a short one which was good because it started to snow quite heavily in the afternoon. Kyanjin Gompa was so lovely covered in snow!

Some people make the trek in and take a helicopter out. We saw several groups do this, including a group of guys filming for the brand North Face.

Day 4: Kyanjin Gompa -Lang Tang
The trek back down was even better! There was a fresh blanket of snow and it was a nice easy walk.

The people who live in Lang Tang are Sherpas and they have a very lovely culture. We were lucky enough to be in Lang Tang during a festival and got to enjoy many treats that the families who owned the guest houses were kind enough to share.

Yaks. Yaks everywhere. Thankfully yaks seem to be gentle creatures and none of them led a stampede against us! Yaks are decidedly better than sheep in this regard! =D

There were a lot of donkeys and ponies too!

Day 5: Kyanjin Gompa- Bamboo

Day five was a very long day but we covered lots of ground and put ourselves in a very comfortable position for our last day of trekking.

There were many porters on this trek and some of them were carrying pretty crazy burdens. These porters are carrying material for a building project. Pretty impressive stuff!

Day 6: Bamboo - Sypru Besi

The final day of the trek! We got to enjoy walking through beautiful forests although we were sad to lose sight of the mountains.

This is the most evil plant I have ever encountered!

After spending the night in Sypru Besi we caught any early bus back to Kathmandu. It was a short but lovely trek!

We hope you all are well!

Love,
Grace
